Presentation

French photographer Mederic Degoy was born in Paris in 1975. 

The son of a commercial photographer and married an abstract painter, he has come to develop a very personal take on photography, moving beyond the traditional approaches he was accustomed to as a child in his father's studio and moving towards an abstract vision more along the lines of his wife's painting.

"I find myself working between photographic capture and the reinvention the image; you could say that I paint with light and movement, and that I seek to evoke a real image hidden beneath the material plane; and once shot, I never alter or retouch my frames."
His work belongs within the traditions of the Lyrical Abstraction school, "characterized by intuitive, loose paint-handling and spontaneous expression...",  a movement born in the 50s among whose founders were Zao Wou-Ki, Hans Hartung, Henri Michaux and Pierre Soulages, counting among its heirs the likes of Kim en Joong. 
His most recent work, "Remnants of Souls" shows "a truth hidden behind the world's apparent materiality, beyond the illusion of reality, liberating us from the illusion of time, letting us glimpse a profundity, a hidden path".
These images form a deeply personal embodiment of reality revealing in turn an even more profound state of mind.

Médéric Degoy est un photographe français né à Paris en 1975.

Avec un père photographe publicitaire et une femme peintre, il a développé une approche personnelle de la photographie, dépassant les approches traditionnelles auxquelles il était habitué, enfant, dans le studio de son père, pour pencher vers l'approche abstraite exprimée par sa femme dans ses peintures.

"Mon travail photographique est à la limite entre la réinvention de l'image et la capture photographique ; on pourrait dire à la fois que je peins avec de la lumière et du mouvement, et que je capture une image réelle cachée sous la vérité matérielle : je ne m'autorise ni retouche, ni modification après prise de vue".
Il se réclame de l'héritage de l'abstraction lyrique ("Caractérisée par une peinture intuitive et sans contrainte, une expression spontanée..."), un mouvement artistique né dans les années 50 avec des pères fondateurs comme Zao Wou-Ki, Hans Hartung, Henri Michaux ou Pierre Soulages et des héritiers comme Kim en Joong.
Ses derniers travaux, "Des résidus d'âmes", montrent "Une vérité cachée derrière la matérialité apparente du monde : au-delà de l'illusion de la réalité, en s'affranchissant de l'illusion du temps, se laisse entrevoir une profondeur, un chemin dissimulé".
Ces images sont une forme très personnelle de la réalité, qui révèlent un état plus profond de l'esprit.
